Selection of recipients
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, goals and aspirations stated in the application, unusual personal family circumstances and financial need. The Foundation Board of Directors meets each April to review all applications, along with renewals, and determines the final number of recipients and award amounts. Applicants will be notified by the committee of their approval status by early May.
Effective January 1, 2013, the Foundation's Board of Directors will be comprised of six The Wheaton Group agents, elected by their fellow agents to serve a three-year term. A slate of nominees is presented each year at the Annual Meeting of Members. In addition, two representatives from Wheaton | Bekins | Stevens hold a permanent position on the Board.
